gina_r_snape: me as drawn by pennswoods (Is this real life? (Glee))
I plan to post about A Who York Evening with Louise Jameson later today. With pictures! And maybe video!

But right now, I'm high.

Seriously, I'm at work and the Tramadol has kicked in and I'm feeling totally stoned. It's weird. Luckily, between that and the 2 Aleves I took, I'm feeling only a minimal amount of pain. Thankfully my boss is cool and understanding.

But yeah, I'm at work and I'm fuzzy headed and it's weeeeeeird, y'all.

ETA: Just heard the news about Maine repealing same-sex marriage and about the uber-conservative homophobe Chris Christie winning NJ.

Talk about a buzz kill. I'm so sorry, my brothers and sisters in Maine and NJ.

Please forgive the brevity of this post. I am tired and in pain and saddened by something I'd rather not get into.

Louise Jameson (aka "Leela" from Doctor Who) was an absolute delight last night. The programming included an interview session, her providing audio commentary for part of an episode, and a delightful game of "Just a Minute." She also signed autographs.

I was asked to be her "lady in waiting" for the evening, fetching her wine and water and handling the money for the glossy photos. She was a truly delightful, funny and unassuming woman who genuinely enjoy the crowd and the event. She asked me several times about the DWNY meets, and expressed surprise that we have such a vibrant Doctor Who group with a regular gathering, and certainly never expected a role she took at the age of 27 would send her to NYC so many years later. And apparently, she had so much fun with the "Just a Minute" game that she plans to play it at her New Year's Eve party!

For me she signed a The Talons of Weng-Chiang DVD. I hadn't put much thought into an autograph until [livejournal.com profile] elrina753 mentioned wanting to purchase something. After a bit of hunting around, we had to resort to buying them at B&N, but at least we got to hang out and get harassed by arrogant strangers who took issue with us eating Pinkberry. She was the perfect companion to keep me from wandering into traffic or losing track of time as I felt myself getting high from the Tramadol starting to work. :-P

So here for you are a couple of videos and some pics that I took with my iPhone, LJ cut to save your bandwidth. Enjoy!
