I am so easily amused sometimes...

Hi all.
This entry has turned out rather longer than I thought. So, I shall employ the ever useful lj-cut.
As the gals on TPMM know, I received all my Slytherin gear for the upcoming PoA premiere. Woohoo!!! Naughty Slytherin coming to SF!
mysduende and Guernica and I all got the 'special letter' informing of the proper delicates to wear underneath said Slytherin outerwear... ;-)
So, for those interested in the saga of Faberge I have good news. It seems she didn't have massive tooth decay. She has a gum overgrowth. The vet thinks it might be Bartinella (sp?). But Merlin knows how she might've gotten that as she doesn't go outside and hasn't contracted fleas! So one major tooth and gum cleaning later and I spent $350 instead of $950. I am truly immensely relieved. Now she just has to be on antibiotics for 3 weeks. Unfortunately, she's getting better and better at hiding from me in the mornings. She is a very smart cat, too smart for her own good. Oh, and to blather on just a wee bit more, the technician was simply gushing over her. She phoned me and told me how stoic and ladylike Faberge was during handling. Then the aftercare write-up went on about what a terrific patient she is. Just wait until they get a hold of Nymphadora the hellspawn daemon kitty...
If I seem very quiet online this week, it is because my laptop is in the shop. I am on my lunchbreak now, updating at work. The screen on my laptop went dim and I finally had no choice but to hand her over. I decided on Tekserv; I'm such a creature of habit.
Special thanks to Skull and Mehai for helping me with my weekend a-lu-min-i-um (wink) cutting project. The boys were so cute, fussing and fixing for me. I still have yet to figure out how I will manage to get the damn cupboard up, though. I am going to have to stand on my stove to do it. Sooooo not looking forward to it. But at least the super is giving me some pointers and drywall screws to accomplish this feat.
Finally, this was gacked from
hawaii5063 and
whitemunin (though I like Hawaii's version better) of 19 things you know about me and one lie...guess which one it is
1. It took me 9 years to finally complete my Bachelor's degree.
2. When I was 19 years old I once partied so hard with friends (drinking, dancing, drugging) that a bunch of us literally missed an entire day for sleeping.
3. Despite the fact that I read voraciously, there are books on my bookshelf I've had over 15 years that I still haven't read.
4. In the tradition of using first letters to name their children, my 'jewish name' is Gita Hannah after my great grandmother Gita and Great Aunt Hannah, but my given name is Gina Rochelle (G from Gita and R from my other great grandmother Rebecca)
5. I have experienced true, thorough, strong deja vu twice in my life. The second time was at a job interview and I turned down the job because of it.
6. I am ambidextrous.
7. I can curse in English, Spanish and German.
8. I was there for the birth of my cat Faberge.
9. I have both ears and my nose pierced. I used to have a more, shall we say intimate piercing, but after a short while I had to remove it.
10. I have four tattoos from 4 different artists, but one artist has done two of them (a bit of a puzzle for anyone who might want to figure it out).
11. I hate the smell and taste of 'peach' except for actual peaches (i.e. no peach spray, potpourri, peach-flavored sweets, peach-scented bodywash, etc).
12. Looking at snakes give me a headache and a queasy feeling.
13. I took ballet for 12 years.
14. My eyes are black, or at least so dark brown that most people have a hard time discerning the pupils from the irises.
15. I learned how to read by the age of 3.
16. My oldest memory is of me at age 6 months, sitting in my highchair pointing at the kitchen light and saying the word "light." I suspect it was the first moment (or most significant moment) it clicked in my brain to associate a word with an object.
17. I remember my first birthday party.
18. The first time I experienced having a crush on/physical attraction to someone was in 5th grade (age 10 or 11). A boy whose name I now forget came into class for Halloween with his face painted in Kiss make-up (like Ace Freely). I find this very funny and a darkly significant formation of my tastes in men as an adult.
19. I have a thing for guys with long hair.
20. Despite my brothers, father, grandfather and one girlfriend trying to teach me, I've never learned how to ride a bike.
Phew!
