Holy guacamole am I tiiiired. Yesterday was an unbelievably busy day. In addition to working a full day, I taught my first class last night. It's a large class. I'm hoping some will drop out. I've got a few talkers, a few skeptics, and a lot of blank faces. But hey, they laughed at my jokes. Vee shall see.

In addition to this, I had lunch with an ex of mine who I had not seen in 15 years. We were friends, then friends with benefits, and then things just sort of dissipated without drama as he graduated and moved away. There was never anything particularly serious between us. So I wasn't concerned about seeing him again. In actually, it was great! We had the same comfortable banter we used to. He's an affable guy who still laughs at all my jokes and engages me in intelligent conversation. He actually gave me some things to think about regarding my dissertation. He was only in NYC for two days and who knows when I'll get to see him again. So I just felt really good about the whole thing.

After class I met up with my friend CR and we created a character for a role play game she's invited me into. I don't know how often I'll play, but it'll be nice to meet some new people and engage in that sort of activity after the fun I had doing so last year.

I was so tired when I got home last night, though, that apparently I left my keys in the door. I didn't even know until this morning when one of the repair guys in the building knocked on my door and told me. Mortifying and scary, that was. So I'm reeeeaaaally glad to have a 3-day weekend coming up. I am actually packed with plans, but none of them involve getting up early!

One thing I'm particularly looking forward to is an event at Bluestockings bookstore with Jo Weldon (aka Jo Boobs) talking about the underground origins of burlesque. She's a friend of my friend Charlene Lanzel who has been repeatedly encouraging me to take some classes with her for the fun of it.

I also have a special dinner event with the Jew Crew on Sunday, and some other things. Somewhere in there I also plan to do some academic reading, cleaning, recording for [livejournal.com profile] snapecast, and resting. And I've got an orange tomato, green bell pepper and purple onion asking to be tossed with some fusilli, garlic and olive oil. And an eggplant asking to be fried and topped with garlicky yogurt dressing. Oh the pressures these vegetables put on me, I tell you.

Today I had a really excellent group supervision session with my staff. It was one of those rare moments where they were all attentive and interested and generally engaged in learning skills. One of my staff was missing, however, and they offered to have the discussion again next week so she doesn't feel singled out. We'll see if I can get lightening to strike twice...

And how 'bout you, flist?
