And there I thought not teaching on Saturdays or Tuesday nights would give me LOADS of extra time. Time to clean. Time to rest. Time to put laundry away. Pffft. My calendar is more packed an ever. Maybe it's just the burgeoning summer. Silly me.
On Saturday I went to a BBQ and then, exhausted from heat and alcohol, settled in to watch Coco Before Chanel. It was an enjoyable film. I love Audrey Tautou and her portrayal of a boyish unconventional woman forced to reckon with the limitations placed upon her at that time in history was an interesting study. Plus, the costumes were gorgeous and it didn't feel like a "costume drama" thanks to a kind of "present" directing style that avoided sweeping crane shots in favor of making the viewer feel like you were part of the action - at the party, on the street, in the shop, etc.
Then on Sunday I went to the Renegade Craft Fair, got my hair cut on a whim, and went to DWNY. The weather in NYC has been of the two-shower-a-day variety for a week at least. So after being outside all day Sunday, the haircut was of the inspired desperation variety because humidity and bleach do not get on well together on my head and I'd reached my limits.
I loved the latest ep of DW, but think I will post a separate entry with my thoughts after watching it a second time as there is much to discuss.
I will, however, post a pic of my new hair and the funky earrings I bought. Oh, and a picture of a bird that literally stopped conversation at the BBQ on Saturday every time someone new saw it with it's distinctive wing stripes.

Bird

Oh, and I thought these clouds on the horizon looked like mountaintops, standing on Houston St. facing west

I've been looking at a lot of food blogs lately, in anticipation of my CSA starting soon. I came across this article, and it's hard not to read "snapes" for "scapes" as my eyes glance down the list.
I also had a Noel Fielding dream the other night. Then to my surprise, saw this listed today. I've already bought my ticket. :)
How are you, flist?
