And here be an LJ cut for the spoilerphobic...
Episode three is going for the total ick factor, and I love it! Classic horror film stuff with the alien in the box that you can't really see but squicks you out anyway. Heeee. They don't have a face. They don't even have a name. They sometimes repeat what you say. They have limbs that thump and squirt nasty stuff. Classic. I love it!
And the child contact who is now an old psychotic-like man is gross. He can smell that Gwen is pregnant? Um, ok. But he can also smell that Ianto is gay????? wtf? I think I'm done with this handy plot device.
So anyway, now Jack has been painted as a total asshole. The kind of guy who gives children away, experiments on them for his own need, and uses the people around him for his own self-interest. We knew from his introduction in DW that he could be a self-serving prick. Now we are lead to believe he's also a child killer.
Except, he's also the central figure of the show. So now the questions for the next two eps are:
1. What will they do to redeem Captain Jack so we can keep wanting to watch him?
2. What's Frobisher's deal? Why is he in cahoots with the 456 and what will happen to him as he's inevitably screwed over?
3. How will we get out of forking over 10% of the earth's children to the 456?
4. How many of the stand-out characters from this story arc will be carried over into the next season as regular characters?
and what the heck,
5. Will they all be horny for Jack as well?
I'm guessing the alien won't stay trapped in that little box, or else it's effectively powerless and gross and unable to enforce it's "requests." Jack will somehow save the day, but not without a price to his character. And also, something has got to happen to Ianto or else why put so much emphasis on him and his sexual orientation and attachment to Jack?
What say you, flistees? And, do you think I should post this to a DW comm?
