This week's CSA haul

This week's CSA haul included:

Dill
Italian Parsley
Radishes
Red Leaf Lettuce
Collard Greens
Kale
and "sprouts: that taste vaguely peppery and look like this:

Anybody have an idea what it is? it's called verdolagas (or purslane, or mexican parsley)

I think I'll use the dill in tuna salad, and also blend some with yogurt, cucumber and garlic. I found this recipe for kale and avocado salad with hemp seeds. Now I just have to find some hemp seeds . . .

Li'l bit o' picspam

I'm well pleased with myself for cooking and cleaning and baking this evening. I've got a 7-grain bread almost done and tonight I tried my hand at homemade mayo (not very successful, must try again and alter the recipe) as part of this recipe for Purslane Potato Salad.

At the weekend, I went to Sandy Hook Beach with my friend LG. I couldn't take any photos of the beach because it's clothing optional, but it was a really lovely getaway. We took a ferry that costs $40 r/t and gets you there in half an hour. It runs very fast.

Last night I went to Bryant Park with soulsister101, tinadoll and our friends JA and MA to watch Goldfinger. It's not easy sitting on the ground for several hours on a crowded lawn! I felt like I'd had a workout this morning. At any rate, I took a picture of the skyline from where I was sitting at both daylight and after dark.

Now I'm watching the first episode of Torchwood while updating and waiting for my bread. It's funny, I never saw it before. Can you imagine? And it's so ful of LOLs now. But especially the shot of Ten's first hand.
