Well, I've gotten precious little done today. I don't know what's wrong with me, but I just can't seem to get in a decent Saturday's reading time. Hopefully I can push on a bit longer and get one more article read. Tomorrow I'm meeting a friend for brunch, and then hope to get actual. real. work. done. I'm thinking pancakes to start my day. Head full o' carbs as brain food, right? Never mind the gallon of insulin I'll be needing for it.
So today was my brother's birthday and I spent a good two hours online with him, talking him through setting up his webcam. Then it was on to his wife's webcam. It was surreal. Amusing, but surreal. They couldn't get their webcams to talk to one another on YIM for some reason. Did I mention he was on a desktop and she was on a laptop...and they were in THE SAME ROOM? Needless to say, at some point I mentioned the pointlessness of them trying to see one another on the computer and made a retreat from the chat. Gotta love family. :snort:
It was kind of sweet, though, seeing him get all excited about the technology. He's 46 years old today, and it's a sweet twist of roles that I am helping him when he's always been the one helping me in the past. It's still new to him, webcams, instant message programs, etc. Who knows. Maybe in another 5 years he'll get an LJ, right after they ban all forms of fanfic, artwork, photography and fun.
So today I opened a can of roasted tomatoes and made a nice sauce by roasting some eggplant. I rubbed slices with garlic, sprinkled with olive oil, salt and pepper, and stuck in the oven for a bit before throwing into the the sauce. Good. Yum. Mix with ricotta cheese and some high fiber whole wheat ziti, and you've got yourself a nice healthy meal.
One problem.
I took the garlic I rubbed on the eggplant and threw it in the pot without exactly mincing it first. Giant piece o' garlic clove found it's way into my mouth and I'm still experiencing the joy 6 hours later.

Oh well.
Happy Ides of March, flist.
