Computer blues and a MEME!

Well, if it seems like I've been rather quiet---it's because my computer's video processor up and quit on me. I took it in for repairs and was told it will have to be shipped out to Apple HQ in TX. Now I'll have to fork over $200 to back up the data on my harddrive because Apple cannot promise they won't just chuck the whole insides. At least I had sense enough to back up my most recent schoolwork.

So, they said 7 - 10 days, but with the holiday I am guessing more like 2 weeks until return. And lemme tell yas, I went through WITHDRAWAL!!!! My lovely flatmate Breno has offered to let me borrow his, but he's going away for the holiday and taking his laptop with him. And don't you know it...I really was planning on writing fanfic now that I've got a wee bit of time! AAAARRRRGGGHHH!!!!! All I have is the computer at work, and so of course work has been SUPER busy lately. :sigh:

Good news on the school front---I got an A- on my Literature Review! Once I complete my research and type up my findings, my professors have agreed to help me edit for submission for publication as they think I may be 'onto something' interesting! :crosses fingers that I didn't just jinx myself:

We had our annual Thanksgiving dinner at the shelter on Wednesday and it's always a lovely affair. Our staff put in 110% for Thanksgiving. Many of our clients have no real relations with relatives (one of the main causes of homelessness is a lack of supports when problems strike), and so it never fails to mean a lot to many of our clients when the Social Services staff stay late and serve them dinner. They get a kick out of me (the Assistant Director) spooning out platefuls of stuffing at the kitchen counter.

This year we nominated one of my staff case workers for an award and she won! (The Barbara Kleiman award for dedication to helping the homeless). So now we will be going to a dinner next week.

Anyway, with my computer in the shop, it feels I will never catch up with all the LJ responses I mean to. Please forgive! (But please still keep leaving your commentary...I'm a greedy feeback whore after all).
