This time the whole thing started with

Comment to this post and I will give you 5 subjects/things I associate you with. Then post this in your LJ and elaborate on the subjects given.
1) Snape (obviously);
2) Stephen Colbert;
3) Doctor Who
4) tea
5) New York
1. Snape I fell in love with my dearly departed husband somewhere between reading Prisoner of Azkaban and watching the film for Chamber of Secrets. I knew in my gut that he was the most complex, twisted, riddled and compelling part of the Harry Potter series and I jumped his literary self like a fly on honey. Well, honey left in the dark. Actually, I had a hunch he was a key to the whole story from the start and that he had a profound capacity for love and loyalty. I'm glad to say I pretty much got it all right, even if the details were a tad off. My username grew out of my activity on the HP Lexicon forum, where I spent dutiful hours defending his honor and dissecting his character. People started calling me his wife and it just sort of stuck. They even offered condolences after the last book. What a crew.
2. Stephen Colbert I am a faithful watcher of the show, although it took me awhile to warm up to it. Having been a Jon Stewart fan for many years, how could I not watch him? He brings a kind of childish glee to performing. His character's twisted world view makes me laugh, and he has no shame. Plus, he might be one of the most intelligent people in comedy today. Truly a sharp mind. I love watching him out of character as much as in.
3. Doctor Who I watched Tom Baker as a kid. But I wasn't a true fan until after HP ended and I started watching the Eccleston and Tennant episodes. Even now, I can't say I'm fully immersed because I haven't had the time to watch the whole back catalogue. But I started watching after HP ended because several on my flist were into the show (including
wolfma and
aerynstales) and who can resist the opportunity to join another fandom and make new friends? Plus, MD and I hooked up at a DWNY meet, which makes me nauseatingly deliriously happy at the moment. DW is one part funky aesthetic, one part cerebral, one part camp and one part pseudoscience wrapped in a unique magic bubble. How could I *not* like it?
4. tea I have a sneaking suspicion there is a distinctly British gene related to tea consumption that somehow wound up in my New Yorker Jewish-Puerto Rican gene pool. (Maybe I got
spursgirl79's share?). I love tea. Many kinds of tea. The taste. The smell. The variety of customs around the world around it. I think what most Americans think of as tea is actually a crime against nature. And I drink a cup nearly every day.
5. New York If a person's soulmate could be a place, it might very well be NYC for me. I'm born and raised here and it runs in my blood. London comes close. Berlin comes close. But something about the rich history, the fast pace, access to people places and things, no nonsense approach and distinctive outlook on life somehow defines me, embraces me and enthralls me.
