So I'm taking a short break from grading papers and Calliope is on my lap. Odd tummy gurgling noises can be heard. But I'm not sure if they are coming from me or from her.
I had a rough day today. First I went to a meeting downtown. Only, I was late because a traffic jam erupted 4 blocks from 33 Beaver St. (Dept. of Homeless Services HQ) and after sitting in a cab for 10 minutes I finally got out and walked. In the cold. Poor me. Boohoo.
After the meeting I took the bus with my staff member. I lost the case file on the bus and had a mini freak out; but luckily the driver noticed and ran after me. Oh, the fun never ends.
Then at work I had several whiny crankypants to deal with. Plus, one of my clients who is a a hoarder was hospitalized and I had to oversee the packing of her stuff. This was exhausting. She had hundreds of small pieces of crap jewelry in individual boxes, wrapped in plastic bags. Oh, and did I mention many of these little boxes had $5 bills folded up in them? Not fun. We had to go through her belongings to determine what to throw away and what to keep and my hands got sweaty from the latex gloves. (Note to self: sweaty latex glove hands during sex = kinda hawt. sweaty latex glove hands during packing of enormous amounts of stuff = so NOT hawt).
After work I wished my dad a happy birthday and bad daughter that I am screwed up on his age by a year. Oh, and I bought a card that will have to go out tomorrow (yes, a day late) because I have no stamps and have not yet memorized his address even though he moved to his new house going on 2 years ago. Go me.
I'm exhausted and crampy and headachy and my ears are ringing a little. I haven't exercised since Friday. And I may have broken MD somehow as he's exhausted too. And no, not "that way." Please don't let your mind go there. We already have one friend going there . . . relentlessly. This was cute for the first day. Now it's getting tiresome. MD and I had a marathon hangout because it was cold and snowy and I'm not sure why else. But it was nice having him around. In truth, it was kind of awesome. :melts a little:
Ok, back to the grindstone I go.
Oh, and I've added a feature to make my entries appear on LJ thanks to
redtango. This is also a little bit of awesome. Well, it is when it works, which doesn't seem to be now.
