Heya flist. How's it goin'?
Well, Thanksgiving day was nice. My friend L and I went to my brother's house and it was lovely. The kids were happy and well behaved (if not well-fed as they don't seem to eat much!). My poor sister-in-law spent the whole day making the entire meal and maaan was she exhausted. But she did a fine job.
I brought my two dishes, one came out well, one not so well due to my own error. We relaxed, ate, chatted, played, and then shared an obscene amount of pie. We had apple, cherry, pecan, berry and some pineapple thing and they were all amazing. They had to roll me home afterwards. My brother packed a container of turkey for Nymphadora and asked if she preferred light or dark meat. Seriously, isn't that sweet? As it turns out, she seems to prefer the light meat! (I paid attention just because he asked). Heeeee. After leaving the Long Island Railroad, L and I decided not to go straight home. We went to the Kmart in Penn Station and then some tacky cheapo costume jewelry store along 34th St.
Yesterday I went to work, which was soooooo hard to do! But we all soldiered on together, equal in our lethargy. When I came home I recorded for
snapecast with some guest contributors, which was fun. Then off I went for my friend E's citizenship party. He officially became an American yesterday and so we did some celebrating with wine and cheese and MORE PIE. The scale is going to be so angry. . .
As luck would have it, on my way home I took a cab and someone left a bag from Border's in the back. And guess what was in it? A Thomas the Tank Engine stickerbook (perfect for the neice and nephew) and Stephen Colbert's I Am America and So Can You! Isn't that great?!?! I was going to ask for it as a present and now I don't have to.
Now I'm at home, cleaning and not grading papers. I'm exhausted. Last night Nymphadora attacked my recycling bin for no apparent reason. She woke me up with a fit of the crazies at about 3am. When I investigated I found no 4 or 6 or 8 legged critters, just a wild eyed kitty looking for action.
Dora so needs a friend. But guess what? Today's THE BIG DAY. Countdown to arrival of the new kitty. She should be here in about 3 hours. :squee: Kitty news shall be posted as it unfolds. I promise pics, specifics and a poll, as I still have not finalized my decision on a name.
Wish me luck getting them acquainted!
Have a good one, flist.
