It is with the deepest of sadness that I report the passing of Faberge Elohim Garland Rosich, b. January 6 1989 d. November 8, 2007
Faberge was born to Wicca, under my dresser in New Brunswick, NJ. I can still see her dainty little paws that first day that she nursed.
Her favorite pasttimes in years gone by included fetching hoop earrings, hair scrunchies and crushed soft pack cigeratte boxes. No earring or hair band was safe at one time. She was an avid catnip connoisseur who had a passion for both common and unexpected foods including fried chicken, shrimp, tuna, salmon, American cheese, french fries, potato chips, baby corn, lentil soup and peeled grapes. She also enjoyed licking plastic bags, batting string, wandering the hallway and walking over people's laps.
She made friends everywhere she went, and the people at the vet's office were never short of stories about her. She was a miracle kitty who took her own share of nine lives as well as that of several other cats, as she seemed to survive when other cats would fall. On March 3, 2007 she was diagnosed with terminal abdominal cancer. She outlived her prognosis by 8 months. At the time the vet said "Well she has a few weeks to live, 6 months tops. But then, this is Faberge we're talking about, so you never know." Truer words were never spoken.
Faberge died peacefully in her home on the couch with the assistance of the vet, after a perfect day of cuddling and gnawing on chicken wings. She joins her mother Wicca, who I pray will take care of her now that I cannot. She was 2 months shy of her 19th birhtday.
I am inconsolable.
