Meme and mildly ranty
Jan. 26th, 2011 11:55 amIt's snowing out and the new boots are not heavy enough on my feet. :( I will still wear them, but for true blizzard needs I am now contemplating buying a pair of Frye motorcycle boots and having heavy duty treads put on the bottom by a cobbler.
I'm feeling mildly depressed again today, but at least now I know the specifics of my trigger so can address it. Dinner with
pov_power last night was delightful. We can talk for hours about everything under the sun. It's refreshing. Though I may have had a little too much extremely delicious wine at one point.
Finally, I did a meme. And boy am I finding it interesting. The 10 best selling books of fiction for the week of my birth were:
1 PORTNOY'S COMPLAINT Philip Roth
2 THE SALZBURG CONNECTION Helen MacInnes
3 THE GODFATHER Mario Puzo
4 AIRPORT Arthur Hailey a
5 SLAUGHTERHOUSE FIVE Kurt Vonnegut
6 A SMALL TOWN IN GERMANY John le Carré
7 THE VINES OF YARRABEE Dorothy Eden
8 SUNDAY THE RABBI STAYED HOME Harry Kemelman
9 EXCEPT FOR ME AND THEE Jessamyn West
10 THE LOST QUEEN Norah Lofts
List obtained from BibliOZ, if you are curious about your own.
I did not watch the State of the Union address last night. But if
drfardook's report is accurate, I am likely to have thrown a brick at my telly anyway. I'm finding it painful to have a head full of studies in support of my socioeconomic theoretical perspective when that perspective is neither reflected in my current government nor will be in the foreseeable future. I probably shouldn't have snapped at my staff member when she asked my opinion today.
Maybe I'll just close the door and eat some mental sugar in the form of pictures on my tumblr account. For the record, Jonathan Ross, Noel Fielding did NOT look like a dog dressed like Sherlock Holmes at the awards the other night in his tartan cape and gold boots. So there.
