Merc Retro at the start of semester
Aug. 30th, 2010 05:11 pmSo I've been waiting for that proverbial shoe to drop. You know the one. Mercury Retrograde. Where shitstorms over failed communication occur. Electronics fail. Contracts need revamping. Important things need revisiting.
Or so they say, if you are inclined to believe such things or enjoy flights of fancy.
So far it's been pretty quiet. Until today. I am prepping for the start of class and when I pulled up my grade sheet to change the names, I realized there is an extra university requirement I forgot about. So now, even though I've submitted my syllabus for copying, I have to create an addendum with even MORE work. Joy!
Here's hoping the darling ickle firsties take a look at my syllabus, think 'holy crap this chick is out of her mind' and several of them drop the class. My intro course is essentially a history course, and it's already a pounding amount of work without this extra requirement. Enough to make grown adults cry. And because it's an intro course, most of my students will be adults reentering education after years out of school. Some might say I rudely awaken them to the challenges of a Master's level education.
