quick update
Apr. 7th, 2010 05:02 pmI had a fantastic class last night. Terry Boggis (who runs Center Kids) was the guest lecturer and she really brought to life all the issues queer families face, what they do at the Center, and spoke at length about why same-sex marriage is not enough to protect LGBT families. She's an amazing woman and it was great to connect with her again (she supervised me when I did my internship at the Center in 1997/98).
She said the needs assessment I did back then is STILL USEFUL as many of the issues have not changed in 12 years. People still call in with the same questions and requests for help. This kinda floored me.
I'm heavily steeped in lit review right now, because I'm applying for a dissertation grant that's due on April 15th. The elf told me about it. :)
But I'm still going to carve out time to come to the DWNY video meet and look forward to introducing the elf to the Doctor. I know, I know, I still didn't post a review. I've not had time to sit down and think a well thought out reaction besides "It was fun. But it was predictable. But it was just the first ep and I think the plot was secondary to all the introductions."
Anyway, it's 90F degrees out in NYC and I need to hunt down a nice place to sit and read and caffeinate myself.
Happy Wednesday, flist.
