Nov. 20th, 2009 01:31 pmToday is Transgender Day of Remembrance.
http://www.transgenderdor.org/
I post because violence against anyone as an act of hate is violence against us all.
To honor the day, I choose to repost a moving poem by
cmcmck, a remarkable woman and dear new friend.
The New Samaritans
They walked by on the other side
The Priest, the Levite, leaders of men.
They ignored the beaten man
As you ignore the beaten we.
You hear as they heard
The anguished screams
In our constant nightmares,
The scar upon our ever after
That we, the victims, bear.
Who, like the gentle outcast
Will pay, for us,
the silver pence
To heal the scars
Of your indifference?
