Aaaaah-chooooooooo
Apr. 16th, 2009 02:06 pmWell it's turned into a beautiful day outside and the tree by my office window is in full bloom. And so are my allergies.
Yesterday I had such a headache that I called out sick. Tired of nosebleeds, and suspecting allergy meds of being the culprit, I opted instead to do nothing aaaaaaaall day. I thought I might sleep in for a few hours and then get some academic work done. Uh huh. Best laid plans and all that. I passed out on my couch twice and couldn't get my head to work properly in any capacity. So instead I watched the final two episodes of Being Human and hand washed some 'ladies things'.
I also went through all of my shoes and finally got round to pulling all the ones I seldom or never wear because they are too tight. Today at lunch I took them to a shoe repair shop to be stretched. I live and work in a mixed-income neighborhood. But the shoe repair shop I went to is in the middle of a decidedly low-income section (next to several "projects" aka "council flats") and it's great for me because that means the shoe repair is super cheap! Plus, I'm glad to give support to a small local business.
I'm also hopeful they can repair one of my favorite totes, a design by the inimitable
redtango. The bag is super cute, but doesn't bear as heavy a load as I put into it and so the straps ripped. To be fair, I did pile a lot of books into what is ostensibly a fashion item and not a work item. I've begged and begged her to rerelease the pink and black kitty tote from a few seasons ago to no avail. I just don't like the new version as much. Waaaah.
:squints and opens one eye in the slim chance she peruses my LJ:
Anyway, tonight I have no choice but to finish grading papers. I can't stop sneezing and 600mg of Advil along with a giant coffee is only helping so much. Wish me luck, flist.
