Robert Burns Night! and stuff
Jan. 22nd, 2009 11:42 pmSo, it's been a crazy busy time lately. Work has been especially hectic. Sorry for not updating and commenting much lately.
I've been keeping up with my "My Fitness Coach" on the Wii for three weeks now, and I do feel a difference. Also, my friend M has been taking me Thursday nights to Scottish Country Dancing with the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society. Tonight was their annual Robert Burns night party, so we were treated to some talented performers in addition to crowds of people participating in dances who don't normally come. But the dancing is an entertaining alternative to working out. And it's men all wear kilts, which is pretty cool.
Other than that, the semester has started and I'm teaching on Saturdays again. Half my class is comprised of students from last semester. So it feels a bit like a class reunion. At the very least, I will have less of a hard time remembering all their names!
I've decided to postpone my final comprehensive exam until May. It simply became too difficult to study over the holidays and I slowly realized I would not have enough time to truly learn what I needed to. People at University have been very encouraging of this decision, which is a comfort. I did, however, get the person I want as my dissertation chair to commit. She seemed quite enthusiastic about my idea. It was inspiring! Now I can move ahead with renewed vigor.
And how are you, flist?
