It snowed last night, and it was soooo lovely.
After teaching, I got a call from a friend. We went to the movies and saw Rachel Getting Married. I quite enjoyed it! The story itself was simple, but the dialogue felt true. The characters were believable, and the camerawork alternatively gave the feeling of homegrown hand held, forced perspective, and immersed such that you feel like you are sitting there with them at the table.
As we left the cinema, sprinkles of sparkly white flew through the air and we were reminded that it was December after all. I feel completely removed from the "holiday season" this year. But I receive two cards this week (thanks
aramintasnape!).
We then walked over to Cafe Orlin for a snack and a chat. The snow felt kind of magical.
Today I have quite the ambitious agenda. Laundry. Haircut. Studying. All I really want to do is sit on my couch in my Pjs sipping tea.
Tuesday I'm taking a day off work. One of my students suggested I check out the Catherine Opie exhibit at the Guggenheim. So I'll be going with
pomona513. Afterwards, we're either headed to see Spamalot (if the $40 tickets I requested come through), or to the Cornelia St. Cafe for the 5th Anniversary of Morrisson Motel stand up. I've got a tip off that a certain comedian will be there to join in the celebration. I'm feeling a little bit like I might have done something regrettable yesterday (small, but personally cringeworthy nonetheless). And today I have to be a good person and phone my date from Friday night to say I'm not interested. So a little bit of comedy might be just what I need.
Happy Sunday, flist!
