Nov. 10th, 2008 01:00 pmMonday, Monday. It's really hit me from the moment I walked in the door this morning. My boss is on vacation and I'm covering both her job and my own for the next 3 weeks. I'm exhausted and having trouble breathing lately. I think it's Fall allergies. But if it persists much longer I will have to consider some sort of treatment option.
To add to that, it's now several weeks post-exam and I'm just starting to feel myself again emotionally...just in time to gear up for the next one. :-(
On Saturday, after teaching, I saw the film The Duchess with my friend D. I liked it. I didn't love it, but it was beautiful and more complex than many other costume dramas I've seen. Solid performances from the leads. Costumes and sets were exquisite. But somehow, the social structures of the times were superimposed on Georgiana in a way that rang a little untrue. Maybe she was painted a little too modern in her sensibilities? I can't quite place my finger on it.
Yesterday, I slept almost the entire day. It felt like a major accomplishment just getting rid of some garbage and doing a handful of dishes. I still feel a little bit like I'm lagging in recovering from a cold a few weeks ago. So I'm contemplating ways to get my energy back. Maybe I'll go to bed early tonight.
