The waiting is the hardest part.

So it's hard to believe, but it's only been 2 days since my oral defense. The further away I am from it, the worse I feel. My mind relives crucial moments and what I could have said or done differently. I am concerned primarily because they might choose to fail me based on a fundamental disagreement I had with the committee about the definition of income transfer. I defined it widely, they narrowly. And a little voice in my head keeps reminding me that when students don't pass it's because they didn't answer the question. Income transfer was one part of one question.

So my goal until I hear from the Dean (by the 17th of October) is to find ways to not think about it.

I've reached saturation point regarding presidential politics and news about the economy. So now what? Well, apparently Sigur Rós played at the MoMA in June. I had no idea, though had I known I wouldn't have had time to go anyway. :-( But apparently it was filmed and I know this because on a whim I poked around the tv menu on my DVR and saw the band's name and hit record.

I've decided to program my DVR to tape a bunch of tv shows I never watch. Vacuous mindless fluff might sufficiently distract. I also had a look at my bookshelf and picked up Life of Pi, which was left in a donation pile at the shelter. It hasn't grabbed me yet, but maybe it will. Has anyone on my flist read it?

Last night I saw the film Un Secret with my friend D, who suggested it upon the recommendation of one of his friends. It was a beautiful, moving film. I need some time to think about the choices made by a few characters.

Now as I sit here writing this, Life on Mars came on BBC-America. I never got to watch it before, but this looks to be the first episode of the series. So I think I'll start that too.

2 weeks is a bloody long time to wait.
