Friending????

In the past, oh I dunno, week or two, I've been friended by about a half dozen people whose LJs are all in Russian. Most of them don't have any overlapping friends or comms with my own.

I know at least one person on my flist was the victim of stolen photographs. This is but one reason I am wary. Being friended by someone whose LJ I cannot read in return is another reason to be wary. And, it's just creepy to be friended without explanation or hello, seemingly out of the blue. Then, they don't appear in my "also friends of" list later on. Are they friending and defriending in one fell swoop? Has this happened to anyone else?

So, Russian peeps, who are you and why are you friending me without saying hello? Flisters, any idea if something fishy might be going on? I feel uneasy.
