So Sammy the Red Menace is gone! Let's all rejoice. Woohoo!!!!

My old roommate Jessica, who is a lovely human being, left everything in order and then some. It was quite a feeling, coming home from work to find the keys in my mailbox and my home quiet. You could feel the tension had lifted. I could. The kitties could. Two days later and Fab's behavior is a living demonstration of her comfort level as she lounges in the living room, finds new places to climb she never went before, and Nymphadora (I think) has already stopped looking over her shoulder at every other second. :::MUCH REJOICING:::

My new flatmate moved in and he seems also to be a great person. Easy going, and we even made breakfast together on Sunday! (Scrambled eggs with chipotle peppers, cheese and avocado, toast, juice and coffee).

On Sunday I went to the Medieval Festival at Fort Tryon Park. It was sponsored by NYC, but unfortunately the website you may have just clicked to is kind of boring. Suffice to say it was amateur night at the Ren Fest as costumes ran wildly inaccurate and the performances were probably all rehearsed the night before. But that doesn't mean it wasn't fun! We got to see actors with really baaaad british accents, pirates and monks playing a live chess game, eat at Ye Olde Funnel cake and veggie wrap stand (all the turkey legs were sold out) and heard the dulcet tones of the Wyrd Sisters. As it turned out, to my surprise I actually knew one of the Wyrd Sisters "Ursula Wyrd, akaCat Pedini. They were really funny and most enjoyable.

My friends and I shopped along the Centercheap Market and I found a broom for $6 which may or may not find itself branded a Nimbus 2000 by the end of the month.

Afterwards, I met up with another friend for dinner and we went to Virgin Megastore where I spent money I haven't got... Damn those impulse buys. I was swept up by the mood and purchased Monty Python and the Holy Grail on DVD, along with a Joy Division CD with a terrific sticker price. :-) They are, it seems, having a 'Best of British' sale and who am I to argue?

My friend started going on about this couple he saw in the DVD section that he couldn't get over. He swore the woman was a total knockout and the guy was a greasy, ugly, extremely unattractive male. After much discussion, and in fact getting into the car and driving around the blocks, I was so curious as to exactly how extreme this couple could possibly be, he actually persuaded me to park the car and go back into the store so I could see them. Well, I didn't think the woman was all that, and I didn't think the guy was that bad. Perhaps it was a bit of a reality check for my friend, who hasn't had a date in awhile. I think we all know what it's like to look at someone and think "THEY have got a gf/bf but not me?!" Or maybe it was just a disagreement in taste. But anyhow, now the challenge is on. We shall make a game of it to find "Polar Attractively Challenged" couples for our own amusement. Yessss, this is how I entertain myself on a Sunday evening. :snerk:

Came home looking forward to watching my new favorite show Dead Like Me only to find the sound wasn't working...but ONLY on *that* channel of course! Spent 20 minutes trying to figure out how to make the closed captioning work and so missed the show. Waaaaah. :-( At least it repeats later in the week!

Baby update, Jenna is doing well. Unlike her elder brother Steven, she is eating, sleeping and pooping quite well. I can't wait to see her next weekend!

And that, in a nutshell, is my life this weekend, and stuff. Dinner has arrived and I am off!
