GoF Movie thoughts
Aug. 22nd, 2004 06:59 pmSo, I was thinking today about the GoF movie and the fact that they are (once again) going to cut Snape scenes.
So, what scenes does Snape have and which one(s) won't they cut?
We have (in order of my faulty memory):
1. Potions class--Karkaroff fretting to Snape (who is trying to get rid of him).
1a. Snape threatening Harry with veritaserum.
2. Behind the Great Hall when Harry is accused of putting his own name in the Goblet.
3. The Egg and the Eye where Harry gets caught in the hallway after taking the egg to the Prefects bathroom.
4. The Yule Ball where Snape is blasting the rose bushes while talking to Karkaroff.
5. The pensieve scene.
6. The Foe Glass scene where Snape sees himself in the glass.
7. The veritaserum scene where they question Barty Crouch Jr.
8. The infirmary scene where Snape shows his dark mark.
9. Later in the infirmary where Snape and Sirius Black must shake hands.
10. The Great Hall scene where "You know what I must ask you to do."
I can't think of any others off the top of my head.
The only scenes I can't see them cutting are 6, 7, 8 and maybe 10.
Six because it really sets up Snape, DD and McG as the Hogwarts Triumverate. Seven because questioning Crouch Jr. will be crucial to the plot. Eight I think could work cinematically. We know they will show the Dark Mark in the sky at the beginning. Snape showing his Dark Mark at the end will make good cinematic 'bookends.'
I am not so convinced they will keep the last one, because they may choose to end on a different note. But if they do end at the leaving feast where DD gives his speech about uniting the houses, I am certain they will keep the Snape part.
