DDoS again

And so it seems LJ is facing another DDoS attack. No news on why this time. But despite my recent absence, I am actually feeling it. I want to read my friends' entries, post, read fanfic, mourn the loss of Amy Winehouse, etc. But no such luck.

I haven't written much because I've been busy, you see, dissertating and working and exercising and trying to stay out of the oppressive NYC heat. btw, I've now lost nearly 15 lbs (about a stone) since May 1st and will soon reach my first major weight loss goal. I've been very quiet about this because it's not terribly glamorous. Exercise. Log my food. Be generally healthy. But it does mean fitting into clothing that's been sat aside waiting for me. It feels pretty good.

My new insulin pump is working out well, also in the realm of health.

Dissertating is going slowly, but it is going.

I want to write about work, but don't feel comfortable doing so in an entry that will go unlocked (Does dW allow for locked posts to be x-posted to LJ as locked?).

So instead, I will post this drawing (I use the term "drawing" lightly as my skills are laughably limited) what I made for bluestocking79 and myself that is a plan of the flat in the Mighty Boosh. We were trying to figure out of the boys had a kitchen table. (They do).

Congrats on the weight loss! 15lbs. is a lot.

And yes, Dreamwidth will crosspost locked entries and maintain the lock; it'll even crosspost to the right filters, assuming you have them in both locations. However, crossposting isn't always working right now because of LJ's continued problems.

I know, it is upsetting me too, there are a lot of great people who are only on LJ and I miss them and would like to communicate with them as well as the very few on here. I don't really believe it is a Russian government conspiracy like some people have written, though, considering that Medvedev has his own blog on LJ. good for you losing all that weight - I haven't managed to so far!!! and the floor plan is cool too. ;)

Yeah, I don't know what to think about the DDoS attack. Frankly, I don't understand DDoS attacks in general. But then, I am not prone to wars be they physical or internet.

I've just managed to get onto LJ briefly but it's almost impossible to use, so I think I'll be decamping over here for the time being (or possibly permanently if things don't improve soon).

Btw, if you know of anyone who needs invite codes for DW, I have some to spare- I was going to post that over there, but couldn't get it to take the post :o(

The real frustration is that DW doesn't post pics in anything like decent quality and I'd just put a whole lot of new ones up on LJ in one of its brief moments of sanity earlier in the week.

I have no plans to permanently decamp here. I like LJ and eventually the DDoS attack will stop. But if anyone needs a code, I'll be sure to ask you. I've already given one away to a friend who is starting to get twitchy with LJ withdrawal.

What do you mean DW doesn't post pics the same? I use photobucket and the HTML code is the same. So I'm not sure what you mean.

I also use photobucket but the quality it loads on DW is dreadful which is especially annoying after my investment in a new camera the results of which look stunning on LJ.

I'll have to experiment some more............
