Storms

We had another fantastic thunderstorm this morning; NYC has been experiencing a string of them recently. I love a good storm. I really do. And my girls only need a little reassuring to relax when they hit. Though, I do worry that global warming is slowly turning our atmosphere into Jupiter. But I digress.

I noticed something strange, and it happens consistently. I tend to wake up a second or two before the thunder claps and I seem to know its coming. Has anyone ever experienced this? I'm wondering if my body feels the sudden electricity in the air, or if maybe the lightening is bright enough to wake me up. Or perhaps it's not the first thunder clap, and my unconscious mind has heard the others even as I don't mentally register having heard them.

It's a very disconcerting mental state to wake up in, knowing that thunder is coming any second. And the thunder is EXTREMELY LOUD because the lightening is very very close. It cracks and I jump, despite knowing its coming.

Thoughts?
